There is some great examples of raised beaches, numerous caves and the whirlpool of Corryvrecken off the northern tip of Jura. A forty-minute boat trip through the narrow sea loch and out into the open water transports you into a world of wild goats, sea caves, raised glacial beaches. ![]() The west of the island is uninhabited but the wildlife is abundant. The largest settlement is Craighouse, the location of the islands only store, hotel & bar, distillery, church, school and bistro. 200 live mainly on the east and south of the island, close to the islands single 30 mile road.
